Just a few blocks from King College Prep sits a hollowed out building that earlier this year was ravaged by fire. Next to the 47th Street Market Place is one of the few thriving businesses left in Bronzeville. Jokes and Notes on South King Drive is a comedy shop that’s one of the stops on the Just for Laughs Festival taking place this week in Chicago. It’s the brainchild of native Chicagoan Mary Lindsey. Brian Babylon of Vocalo.org recently talked with her and admitted he owes her a great debt.

The cable channel TBS is kicking off a new show tonight. Are We There Yet? is a family sitcom based on comedy films starring former rapper, and now media mogul Ice Cube. The show airs between two of Tyler Perry’s sitcoms and before George Lopez’s talk show. That’s causing many to call TBS the most diverse channel on television. Brian Bablyon of our sister station, Vocalo.org recently got a chance to talk to the new sitcom’s two stars Essence Atkins and Terry Crews.

Chicago has long been known as a breeding ground for comics. From Tina Fey to Bernie Mac the newest star is Hannibal Buress. And we can say we knew him way back when before he moved to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in the Big Apple. Hannibal recently came home after his first season of writing for Saturday Night Live. His pal, Brian Babylon, who does stand-up and hosts a shift on our sister station, Vocalo.org recently talked with him.
